Website design agency

A website design agency for brands that make real things.

Websites designed to be found in search, to carry the brand properly and to turn a visit into an enquiry or an order.

What we build

We design and build websites for companies whose product is physical, or whose service happens in the real world: manufacturers, retailers, venues, studios and consumer brands. The site is the main shop window, and it has to show the work properly, load quickly, be found by the people searching for it and make it easy to get in touch.

Because we also photograph, film and render products, the site is designed around the best material, not around stock pictures.

Designed to be found

A website that nobody finds does not work. Every page we build has a job and a search it is meant to answer. We research what people type, plan the pages around it, write the titles and descriptions, add the structured data search engines read, and set up the sitemap and measurement from the first day.

We build pages for people to be short and clear, and put the depth on separate pages written for search, so a visitor is never made to read a wall of text.

Design that carries the brand

The design follows the brand identity. Typography, colour, photography and film are chosen to make the site feel like the product. The layout is designed twice: once for a wide screen and once for a phone, because they are different experiences and not one shrunk to fit the other.

Shops and product viewers

For brands that sell online we build e-commerce with clear product pages, fast checkout and accurate stock and delivery information. Where it helps, we add interactive 3D product viewers so customers can turn the product over before they buy.

After launch

A site is not finished at launch. We host, maintain, measure and improve it, and report in plain figures: visits, enquiries and the searches that bring them. Anything that is not working is changed.

What to bring to the first meeting

You do not need a finished brief. You do need to know who the site is for and what you want them to do. Bring examples of sites you admire and sites you dislike, with a sentence on why. Bring your best photographs, any film, and the brand guidelines if they exist.

Tell us what the site must replace or improve. If you have a current site, we ask for access to its analytics and search data, so the plan starts from what people already do rather than from guesses.

Name one person who can decide. Sites drift when feedback arrives from six directions. One approver, with a clear route to the others, keeps the programme short.

How the build is checked

Before launch every page is tested on a range of phones, tablets and desktop browsers, not only the one we design on. We check speed on an ordinary mobile connection, keyboard use, text size and contrast, and that every form reaches a real inbox.

Each link is followed. Each redirect is tested. Titles, descriptions, headings and image descriptions are reviewed page by page against the plan. You see the site on a private address first and approve it before it goes live.

On launch day we watch the first hours of traffic for errors, and we submit the sitemap to the search engines so they find the new pages quickly.

What goes wrong and how we avoid it

The usual faults are slow pages from oversized pictures, forms that fail without telling anyone, and copy added late that no one has checked. We compress and size every image, test every form from first click to final message and put a named person on content.

The other common fault is a redesign that quietly loses pages that already bring visitors. We list every existing address before design starts, and none is dropped without a redirect or a good reason.

Finally, a site can become impossible to edit. We build so that your team can change text and images without calling us, and we show them how.

Questions

How long does a website take to build?

A focused site can be live in a few weeks. A larger or shop-based site takes longer. We give a programme with the proposal.

Will the site rank in Google?

We build it to be found and measure how it is doing. No one can promise a position, and we will not.

Can you redesign a site without losing our rankings?

Yes. We map every existing page to its new address and redirect it, so what already ranks keeps ranking.

Do you provide the photography?

Yes, with film and 3D visuals where useful.

Who looks after the site afterwards?

We can, with hosting, updates and monthly reporting.

What do you need from us during the build?

Approved copy or a brief for it, your photography, one decision maker and timely feedback. We list each item and its date in the programme.

Can our team edit the site ourselves?

Yes. We build so routine changes to text, images and news can be made by your own team, with a short walkthrough at handover.
